A good working relationship between client and architect is a vital ingredient in the success of any building project. Selecting the architect whose design approach and practice philosophy best fits your requirements is an important process.

Where to Begin
All architect members of the New Zealand Institute of Architects are registered architects. The Institute also publishes a Directory of NZIA Practice members which lists, by region, New Zealand architectural practices where at least one partner is an NZIA member and registered architect and the practice is a practice member. This Directory is also available on the NZIA website (www.nzia.co.nz) as a search page called 'Find an NZIA Practice'. In most cases, a brief summary is provided of the particular areas of expertise offered by each practice.

Personal recommendations by satisfied clients are another valuable way of selecting an architect. (Some Gallery projects on this site also have client comments in the text area.)  If you are interested in the work of a particular architect, contact them and ask to see some of their work or simply have a chat with them.

Use the Gallery section of this website to find project designs you like.  You can contact the architect who designed them - each NZIA Practice's contact details are provided - and in some cases, visit their website.
