Tony Ussher provides a full architectural service for new residential projects including home alterations and additions. He also has over twenty years experience specialising in heritage building conservation and is included on the NZ Historic Places Trust list of approved Conservation Architects.
Conservation of socially, culturally and architecturally significant buildings is essential to the well being of our communities and defines their sense of place over time. Changes within a community must recognise the contribution of earlier buildings and must work within this historical context.
Principles applied to both new and alteration design projects are that all buildings need to recognise their social and historical context as well as their climatic and geographical location. The use of sustainably sourced materials and technologies, and the application and incorporation of energy efficient systems and passive design principles are encouraged in discussions with all clients.
