ArcHaus Architects was approached in March 2008 to undertake an Office Fit-out proposal for QV [Quotable Value Ltd], within an existing three storey commercial building. The proposed building is located across the road from the railway station in Petone, which was formerly inhabited by Colgate - Palmolive Ltd.
QV are currently located on Thorndon Quay, within a small footprint commercial building of which they occupy multiple floors. The draw card for the proposed location in Petone, is that the building has a footprint considerably larger, so the team can therefore occupy the same floor, and thus not having the effect of creating physical divisions within the team.
This strategy formed the concept for the proposal and reflects a change in office dynamic within the organisation. The concept being proposed is a single level, open plan configuration instead of a multi-level, multi cellular office organisation.
The visualisation of the concept came from clean and simple lines to create a minimalist and modern office fit-out. In the concept, a touch of playfulness is added to the central area, referred to as the "Pod", to break down the boundary between the public front and private back of house areas.
The result is an office environment that promotes a healthy workplace and one which will reflect a cohesive dynamic within the organisation.
