This design is for stage 3 of a 4 phase scheme to develop the 13,221m2 site, once occupied by Colgate-Palmolive, in Nevis Street, Petone. The scheme challenges the current quality of commercial developments in the local vicinity and provides an internal courtyard and cafe area for tenants use. The design has been developed to allow flexibility of the spaces, to facilitate potential future changes of use.
Care as been taken to allow each part of the development to read independently, while maintaining a coherent unity. Strong vertical elements are used, breaking up the largely horizontal forms and creating the modular basis in which the tenancies are formed. Through location and design, the development, affording commanding views to the surrounding area and waterfront, will serve as a positive addition to Petone.
